Sewer Cleaning job on Long Island. Customer wanted a 2nd opinion on his sewer. Sewer line was cleaned a week prior due to a back up. Other sewer company pulled out roots and recommended digging the sewer line up so we were there to scope and locate problem. Showed customer the roots growing in the sewer and located the spot in the middle of his driveway 8 feet down. We asked him if he wanted us to clean the sewer while we were already there. He said yes and we showed him the sewer line on the sewer camera after we cleaned it with a sewer cable and proper blade. We told him that this sewer line could be maintained by having us snake it every year or 2 versus digging up his driveway which would cost thousands. This video is from a customers' sewer who does a yearly maintenance with us. It's not a perfect sewer. This sewer has roots intruding at some joints and a small dip. He's well aware of the condition and knows that he may have to replace it someday but he hasn't had a sewer backup since we've been cleaning it for the last 3 years. We guarantee his sewer for a year every time and he continues to pay the same price every year. Using a sewer camera benefits the customer in a way that let's them know that they need to do preventive maintenance or have a repair done. 90% of the time a yearly sewer cleaning is recommended. It also ensures that the sewer was cleaned correctly. The pic below is a customer's house who's sewer was cleaned by a $50 dollar sewer company's tech that had to come back again after it backed up after a week. This sewer line backed up a 2nd time and the customer was done with them. The line was down to a slow drain so by the time we arrived we were able to put in the sewer camera before doing anything. Usually the objective of these sewer companies is to cable the sewer line once with a 2 inch blade and get the water flowing. Little does the customer know that this large mass of roots is still in the sewer line because a sewer camera was not used and will probably backup within a month or 2. After the sewer backs up again then a camera will be recommended or water jet which will usually start at $250 for the sewer camera and minimum $500- $1200 for a sewer water jet cleaning. We do water jetting as well which we charge $500 for 2 hours but only as a LAST resort or if requested by the customer. We are NOT a commission based company so we do not sell the customer something that is not needed. We know you work hard for your money as do we. We do not rush through jobs. We made this post because of our customer & others not knowing why one sewer company charges $50 and the others are higher(He does now). This is one of those reasons. It's true in life that you get what you pay for!

Clogged Sewer Drain Cleaning Service | Nassau | Suffolk | Long Island

They don't use a sewer camera so you will not see that this huge root mass is still lingering in your sewer. As an owner/operator it is my job to make sure that I give my customers my time for which they are paying to do the best possible job for them. I give 110% on every job. To some people it's just a "SIMPLE" job but to me it's my job to make sure that your sewer doesn't back up 4 times a year due to an improper sewer cleaning. Some of these jobs are far from simple and some take longer than others. Mind you that this sewer was cleaned 3-4 months ago.

Sewer cleaned with 3.5 inch blade. Many customers don't see what's remaining in the sewer. All they can see is water running through the sewer trap. Here we see that there is a large root mass still remaining in the sewer which will no doubt back up again within a month's time. We use a sewer camera on every sewer that we clean and will cable the line with a 6 inch blade which we did with this sewer. See the difference in the next video.

Home Sewer Camera Inspection Service|Nassau|Suffolk|County|Long Island|NY
We use a sewer camera whenever we are cleaning a sewer. Lately we have been getting many calls for a home sewer inspection by potential home buyers since a regular home inspection does not cover this service. This is a very wise choice by someone who is about to lay down a huge down payment on a home. There have been countless homes that we have been called to service a clogged sewer where the homeowner has been in the newly purchased home for less than 6 months. In some instances we have had to inform the homeowner that they will need to make a repair or replace their sewer which did not sit well with them. Here are a few pics of a sewer camera inspection from a couple of jobs last week. This sewer was in excellent condition.
While this sewer was not, even though the seller never had a problem with the sewer in the 4 years of living there but definitely had a pitch problem with a potential for a sewer back up.
Don't overlook this very important part of the home inspection process when purchasing your next home. We know that you can't physically see your sewer like a granite counter top but your home function will come to a halt if your sewer stops doing it's job! It can be the difference of thousands of dollars saved if the home sewer inspection shows that the sewer will need replacement or a repair!

Sewer & Drain Cleaning Plumber | Nassau County | Suffolk County | Long Island | New York
We went out to a customer's home this morning for a clogged sewer. This sewer line was serviced by another sewer and drain cleaning company 2 months ago. We removed the out going cap on the sewer trap and did not have any water backing up so we loosened the sewer trap in cap and could see it starting to lea out so we knew we had a trap stoppage. We snaked through the sewer trap to clear the stoppage but didn't quite feel right. We put on the long gloves and reached in the trap and pulled out another cap that was left inside there (Bottom Of Pic). This is the inner part of the cap minus the lead which are usually called Fit All Plugs due to the lead ring around the cap which will mold itself into the sewer trap opening. The original cap material on most sewers were brass but over time the threads on the sewer trap start to wear and a brass cap can no longer grab well enough to be threaded on. We used our sewer camera to inspect the rest of the line in and out to the street to find yet one more stoppage starting to form due to a root mass 40 feet from the trap. We used a 6 inch blade to scrape it out, showed our customer a clean sewer line and were on our way.

Long Island Drain Cleaning Service | Sewer Cleaning Service
We serviced a customer in Nassau County, NY this past Friday who was having sewer problems. After numerous visits from we're guessing a handyman "sewer cleaner", due to the way it was handled, the customer was referred from a previous customer of ours. The customer had a sewer clog and was being charged every month for this handyman person to come out and insert one of those expandable bladders that you hook up to a garden hose to clear the line. We're not talking about 25 or 50 dollars per visit but over 150 for 10 minutes every time he came out to the point where it was every couple of weeks. Well we explained to the customer that by putting in an expandable bag to clear the sewer the only thing that was being cleared was the toilet paper that had attached itself to the tree roots that has been growing in the sewer line. If you've ever just turned on the hose without inserting the bag into the sewer line you will see that there really is not a whole lot of water pressure coming out of the bag like how a sewer water jet operates. Anyway the whole time this was going on the roots in the sewer line just continued to grow. We were able to clear the sewer after a few times back and forth then inserted the sewer camera and this is what we found, just as we had suspected, tree roots. This pic is sideways. The area showing roots is actually the top of the pipe.
It's fortunate for the customer that the continued growth of the roots had not caused a collapse or a crack anywhere else. This spot in the sewer is right at the curb line and jobs involving digging in the street can get very costly due to jack hammering, dumpster rentals, asphalt repairs & traffic plates. If you're having problems with a sewer clog once per year because of roots that's one thing but if it starts to become a problem every 3 months or so then you really should be taking action and putting in a sewer camera and seeing what is going on in there. Unfortunately this customer was being taken advantage of by this handyman "sewer cleaner". We're happy that we were able to help and educate.
